July 2011 - The Mayor Cllr John MacLennan attended the end of term Leavers Ceremony at Ysgol Glan Gele on the 13th July, 2011 were he and Mrs. Buckley-Jones the Headteacher presented each pupil in Year 2 with a certificate of achievement and a dictionary to as a token from the School. The pupils gave a brilliant show for parents and guests. Best Wishes to all Year 2 pupils in their new schools.

July 2011 - Conwy Walking week took place from July 1st to 8th, Abergele held the Forts and Follies walk on the 4th July.

24.3.2011 - Public Meeting
Abergele Town Council is aware of the concerns of residents regarding proposals for the Abergele area contained in the Local Development Plan for Conwy. It has therefore been decided to call a Public Meeting to consider these concerns and agree how best to respond to the public consultation. This meeting will be held at: Kinmel Manor Hotel on Thursday 31st March at 7pm, please see the attached notice.

Abergele Scout Group is organising a drop-in at the George & Dragon, Market Street, Abergele on 13 September from 7pm for adults who may be interested in getting involved in the local Scout Group. All are welcome to stop by for a chat and to get more information.

Abergele Players are pleased to announce their forthcoming production 'Emporium', the story of the store, by Rob Tucker, which will be performed at Church House, Groes Lwyd on 16th and 17th September. Tickets cost £5 and are available on the door or in advance from One Stop or Group Members (from 9th August).

3.7.2009 - Conwy Local Development Plan
The Council would like to thank all those residents who visited the recent open day at the Town Hall to find out more about the plan's proposals and submit their representations. Over 700 representations were submitted to the Planning Office earlier today.
We are now awaiting details of the next stage of the consultation process and will post more information here when it becomes available.
27.5.2009 - Conwy Local Development Plan
Abergele Town Council is aware of the concerns of many residents regarding proposals for the Abergele Area contained in the Local Development Plan for Conwy, which sets out the framework for the development and use of land within the County until 2022.
A Public Meeting is to be held at the Kinmel Manor Hotel at 6.30pm on Friday 5th June to consider these concerns. In attendance will be Assembly Members Darren Millar and Mark Isherwood, along with a Senior Officer from the County Council's Planning Department.
16.3.2009 - Floodlighting in Pentre Mawr Park
The Council is pleased to announce that work has commenced today on a project to install floodlighting in the skate-park and multi use games area in the Park. The lighting will be operational from dusk to 10pm and will provide a safe, well-lit environment for young people to gather and take part in sport and recreational activities. This project would not have been possible without assistance from Conwy County Borough Council and thanks to a £15,942 grant through the Landfill Communities Fund of Waste Recycling Group (WRG) administered by the Environmental Body WREN. Organistations and community groups requiring funding for beneficial projects should visit www.wren.org.uk or contact WREN on 01953 717165.
4.2.2009 - Year of St. Elfod
Plans are well in hand for the 1200th Anniversary celebrations of the life of St. Elfod. The opening event takes place on Sunday 22nd March 2009, St. Elfod's Day, meeting at St. Paul's Church at 10.30am and processing through town for an informal service of celebration in St. Michael's at 11am.
Other events planned include an Anniversary Concert on Thursday 16th April at 7.30pm (at St. Michael's), a garden party in Gwrych Castle grounds, school events, parish boundary walk, exhibitions and a mediaeval fair. For more information contact The Rev'd Shirley Griffiths on (01745) 833132.
